Paris Saint-Germain Edges Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Lift French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now secured the prestigious cup on fourteen separate times.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown featuring the Ligue 1 winners and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger found the net in the opening stages.

Yet, the southern French side fired twice late to seize a surprise lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial leveler in the final moments to send the match into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving crucial attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored with composure for PSG to complete a 4-1 shootout win.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the twelfth time in the past thirteen seasons.
